Welcome to 8th Grade Algebra 1!
8th Grade Algebra is a beginning course in Algebra. Topics covered include
but are not limited to operations on polynomial equations, exponential functions, linear systems, and
factoring. Students must meet academic requirements in the 6th and 7th
grades in order to be placed in this class as an 8th grader. Students who take Algebra 1 prior to high school must pass an End of Course Exam administered by the State in order to receive high school credit.
Students should expect 30-60 minutes of daily homework in this class and must maintain a "C" average at all grading periods in order to remain in the class. Homework can be found on the Homework Calendar.
This Algebra 1 class utilizes the learning network of Edmodo. Although students can be successful without it, access to the Internet is considered beneficial.
The book can be found online, along with tutorials and practice activities at Pearson. All students enrolled in the class should have an access code in order to utilize this site.
